Do you ever think that life is becoming increasingly complicated, that politics, relationships and even seemingly simple things such as eating are tangled up in a web of opinions, ideas, recommendations, ideals and rules? Well, it sure isn't a black/white world anymore and upon analysis, it becomes obvious that this is only going to get worse. It won't change by itself, so you need to interrupt this cycle, you need to recharge, but how?
Well one way is to seek out a comfortable and relaxed environment where you can escape all your everyday worries and stresses. Although this sounds simple, it is not an easy thing to do. How often do you try to relax on the couch but you have the television going, the telephone starts ringing and other people are wanting your attention? Such a situation will only strengthen the idea that you live an uncontrolled, hostile, stressful life.
Perhaps you are waiting to have the perfect moment with "nothing" to do so you can regroup. Well, the fact is that nobody never has "nothing" to do, so don't wait for or expect that to happen. The 'perfect moment' is all a state-of-mind, a state that you will have to create by first allowing it to arise, and then cultivate it. So make a decision that for the next little while you will have "nothing" to do, and that during this period nothing has higher priority than to relax, let go and reconnect with an inner feeling of harmony and peace. If you think that you can't afford such a luxury, well, that is a definite sign that you truly need it!
Imagine - a pleasant, sunny day spent lazily relaxing in a hammock. Everyone loves the idea of a hammock, why wouldn’t they? It’s a supportive, comfortable sling with the sole purpose to help you sit back, relax and enjoy doing absolutely "nothing".
Let's take a look at hammocks for just a minute. Not only can hammocks be your vehicle of escape, a portable hammock can be practical due to their compact nature and provide a convenient bed for travelers and campers to sleep. A hammock also makes a great focal point for a garden, poolside or patio and can bring a pleasant way to enjoy your garden during the hot summer months. Some hammocks have stands however even these can be taken apart and safely stored away during the winter or be easily transported if necessary.
You have a few choices when selecting the type of hammock. If you have a limited amount of space, the best type of hammock would be a single bar rope hammock where the clew at one end is attached to the bed through the single hardwood spreader bar. This bar helps maintain the hammock's even width at the shoulders. While at the other end, a fan-shaped clew is attached directly to the bed to provide stability and give the hammock more hanging flexibility in small spaces.
Another option is the unique hammock chair or hanging chair which delivers the most delightfully, comfortable solution when you want the enjoyable sensation of a hammock in a small space. The hammock chair can be used in some of your favorite spots in the garden, at the cottage, on the porch and even indoors.
If you have more space, the hammock with a spreader bar at both ends would be another choice, especially if you are expecting company and want to share your hammock!
So, a long uninterrupted rest on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the hammock might be just the thing that brings you out of the negative spiral of stress and gives you a chance to breathe and become aware of the important things that keep your wheels spinning. Meditation can also help you achieve this, but if this isn't for you, give yourself the okay to have "nothing" to do and create your escape in your garden so you can experience that "floating in air" feeling and recharge yourself.
